Bacon Announces Candidacy for 12th District Congressional Seat

STATE SENATOR KEVIN BACON ANNOUNCES
CANDIDACY FOR CONGRESS IN THE 12th DISTRICT
HE WILL SERVE AS A VOICE FOR SMALLER,
MORE RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT

(Columbus 12/12/17) – State Senator Kevin Bacon today announced his candidacy for the Congressional seat current held by Pat Tiberi. Bacon will file in both the special election brought on by Tiberi’s retirement and for the full term to follow.

Bacon said his decision was driven by many conversations with residents across the district who wanted to see his brand of leadership in Washington.

“The record of achievement that I’ve established is one grounded in two principles: reducing government regulation and collaboration,” Bacon said. “Every move I make, and I’ll work with anyone to achieve these goals, will seek to reduce spending, cut government red tape and help business owners create new and better paying jobs.”

Bacon said that the unique qualities of the 12th district drew him into the race.

“From farmers to small business owners to hard working families just trying to make ends meet, I share their values,” Bacon said. “I’ll take Ohio’s approach to government spending – where the budget has to balance – and fight for that sort of common sense in Washington.”

Bacon said Tiberi’s leadership will be missed, but that he hoped to stand in and instill his own voice.

“Pat Tiberi served the people of this district well,” Bacon said. “Our goals are similar, and in today’s political environment it’ll be my style to be an energetic cheerleader for our working people and business owners. It’ll also be my style to push back aggressively against the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, who seek stalemate rather than solutions.”

Bacon is already building a grassroots team to share his vision across the district. Strategists for the 2018 campaign will be Politics Counsel, headed by Mark Weaver who has experience on over 700 campaigns.

Kevin Bacon is currently a state senator and previously served as a state representative. He’s a lawyer practicing in the area of estate planning, small business law and real estate law. He’s been active in the community with organizations such as Prevent Blindness Ohio and the Dublin-Worthington Rotary.

Bacon graduated from Miami University and received his law degree from Capital Law School. He and his family make Franklin County their home.
